About us.

The Texas Latino School Boards Association (TLSBA) provides research and resources to school board members, superintendents and educators who are committed to closing opportunity and achievement gaps for the 2.9 million Latino students in our Texas public schools. Founded in 2021 to address the gaps that were exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic, the TLSBA addresses the systemic challenges that adversely affect students of color.

The why.

According to Dr. Michael Cline of the Hobby Institute at Rice University, we can add $899 billion per year to our Texas economy if we close the achievement gap. TLSBA members feel a moral obligation to tackle persistent gaps—for the sake of our Texas economy, but also for the sake of our Texas public schools students and their families.
